I was looking back on a list of all of SM's current and past artists...I'm starting to wonder if they'll be doing a repeat of 2001/2002 where they just released a bunch of groups/soloists.
2001 - Kangta (soloist), MILK, (and technically Jang Nara, I think)
2002 - Chu Gayeol**, Isak N Jiyeon, Shinvi, and Blackbeat
2001 - soloist, 4-member girl group
2002 - indie soloist**, duo girl group, 3-member girl group, 5-member boy group
** I don't really count Chu Gayeol as he was never intended to fit into SM's pop vibe. But then and again, SM just acquired an indie label and just released Play The Siren, an "indie" co-ed group...
So far, 2014 looks like a repeat of 2001. A soloist and a four member girl group. While J-Min actually debuted 7 years ago, she's debuting for the first time in Korea. It was a similar case with Kangta - H.O.T. had broken up and it was his debut as a soloist.
[UPDATE:] Maybe they really are following this pattern! Taemin is set to debut as a soloist this year as well!

So maybe we can look forward to a few more groups next year? Probably from the boys, because with Hansol, Taeyong, Johnny, Ten, Yuta, and Jaehyun's ages, they're at the right age to debut. And, perhaps, if they go the Isak 'N' Jiyeon route, maybe a duo with some of the other ROOKIE girls seen in the background of the SMTOWN WEEK videos and the ABC Boot Camp clips?
